Classic Cars at Hesslewood 2025 – Our Most Successful Event Yet!

The 5th annual Classic Cars at Hesslewood was our biggest and most memorable event so far – and our most successful yet! With record-breaking footfall, more vehicles than ever before, and an incredible £11,526.62 raised for Humber Rescue, the day was a shining example of what our community can do together.

From the moment the gates opened on Sunday 17th August, Hesslewood Office Park was alive with the gleam of polished bonnets, the hum of engines, the smell of delicious food, and the laughter of families. The fair weather, the music, and the buzz of excitement set the perfect scene for a day that brought people together in support of a brilliant cause.

A Stunning Display of Classic Vehicles

Rows of lovingly restored classic cars and motorcycles, and modern showstoppers stretched across the site. Visitors strolled from vehicle to vehicle, swapping stories with proud owners and pausing for photos in front of their favourites.

This year, we introduced our very first Vehicle Exhibitor Awards, judged by Rally TV presenter and lifelong petrol-head Paul Woodford. With more than 200 vehicles on show, choosing winners was no small task, but Paul’s passion and enthusiasm shone through. Of course, to us, every exhibitor was a winner – each one helping make the event such a special success.

Fun for the Whole Family

Classic Cars at Hesslewood isn’t just about the vehicles – it’s about creating a day for everyone. Families gathered for delicious food and drinks, browsed stalls from local businesses, and enjoyed activities that kept all ages entertained.

Children squealed with delight on a 20ft slide and assault course, gasped as Owl Adventures brought majestic birds of prey swooping low (with one even settling on an unsuspecting member of the crowd), and giggled while meeting goats, cow, pigs, rabbits, and even a mouse with a miniature car thanks to The Purple Pig Company’s mobile farm. Creative face painting, lawn games, and being able to climb aboard a fire engine from Humberside Fire and Rescue added to the atmosphere.

The soundtrack of the day was provided by Humber Wave Radio, who’s volunteers did a fantastic job of keeping the crowds entertained and spirits high, throughout the day. Their support in the run-up to Classic Cars at Hesslewood , helping us to spread the word to our local community, with radio shout-outs, live interview, and social media shares has been really valued too.

A Moving Moment with Humber Rescue

One of the most memorable moments came just after midday, when the Humber Rescue crew arrived. Despite being on call all night – saving four lives only hours earlier – the team still came to meet the community, share their equipment, and talk about their life-saving work. Visitors gathered around the lifeboat with admiration, many pausing to thank these true local heroes.

It was a powerful reminder of exactly why we were all there: to support a volunteer-led charity that puts itself on the line every single day.

Capturing the Day

We are grateful to Event Faces Photography, who generously volunteered their time to capture the spirit of the Classic Cars at Hesslewood event. The photos – from gleaming chrome details to joyful family moments – perfectly tell the story of the day. You can see the full albums on their Facebook page.

A Celebration of Community

While the vehicles, food, and activities all set to attend, what makes the day a success is the support of the people attending: families relaxing on the grass, friends catching up, car enthusiasts swapping stories, and children playing together. The atmosphere was one of togetherness, joy, and generosity – a community united for a cause.

We were humbled by the flood of kind words we received afterwards, from first-time visitors vowing to return every year, to seasoned supporters calling it the best event yet. Click through the carousel for a snippet of just some of the incredible feedback:

From Fundraising to Impact – The Cheque Handover

On the morning of 2nd October – a bright but breezy Thursday – we had the pleasure of visiting Humber Rescue’s boathouse to hand over the funds raised. Representatives from three of our generous sponsors – PPH Commercial, BG Solicitors, and The Garage Grimsby – joined us to present the cheque and meet some of the dedicated crew.

At the presentation, a few words were shared on behalf of Hesslewood Charitable Causes Fund, and the team at Humber Rescue kindly showed us all around the boathouse and their equipment, giving us all an insight into the vital work they carry out every single day.
