At Hesslewood Office Park, we are passionate about supporting our local environment – and what better way to do so than by creating a haven for bees? One of the ways we achieve this is through our very own beehives. Nestled within our grounds, a thriving colony of bees produces the delicious, golden nectar we proudly call Hesslewood Honey.

A True Taste of Hesslewood
The heart and soul behind Hesslewood Honey is our CEO, Debbie, who oversees the entire process. This includes maintaining the natural environment, ensuring the hives and bees remain healthy, and overseeing the harvesting, extracting, and spinning of the honey. Producing Hesslewood Honey is truly a labour of love, and if you work at or visit the estate, you may have spotted Debbie in her beekeeper suit, carefully monitoring the hives throughout the year to ensure the bees have everything they need to thrive.
The result is pure, natural honey with a unique flavour profile, reflecting the diverse flora surrounding Hesslewood Office Park. It’s this special blend of local flowers and plants that makes Hesslewood Honey so distinctive—a true taste of Hesslewood.
The best part? All proceeds from the sale of Hesslewood Honey go directly to our Hesslewood Charitable Causes Fund, supporting vital local initiatives. So, when you enjoy a jar of our honey, you’re also helping to make a positive difference in our community.

All About the Bees!
Of course, there would be no Hesslewood Honey without the incredible work of our bees. Did you know that these hard working honey bees need their sleep just like us humans? When night falls and they are unable to collect the pollen and nectar, they grab themselves a 5-8 hour power-nap. You can discover lots of fascinating facts about the incredible honey bee by visiting the British Bee Keeper’s Association. Our favourite has to be their joyous way of communicating – they ‘waggle dance’ to let their fellow workers know that they have found a food source! We might need to add that as a suggestion to the next team meeting agenda!
There is undoubtedly a real magic to everything the bees do to produce honey. From foraging for nectar to the complex transformation within the hive, the process is truly remarkable. If you’re curious to learn more about the magic of honey production, take a look at the guide from Pollen Paths.
Having beehives on-site offers numerous benefits. Bees are essential pollinators, playing a crucial role in maintaining Hesslewood’s ecosystem. By supporting our local bee population, we contribute to a healthier environment. Plus, producing our own honey means we rely less on commercially manufactured products, which often travel long distances before reaching consumers. It’s a small win-win for both our community and the planet.

Honey and Health
Beyond its delicious taste, some people use honey for its potential health benefits. While the science behind its effects on hay fever remains unproven, just this week, one of our regular customers stocked up on Hesslewood Honey, sharing that it may be helping to ease his seasonal allergy symptoms. Honey is also known for its antioxidant properties and is a popular natural remedy for soothing a sore throat—many of our estate office team swear by a spoonful mixed with hot water and lemon.
If you enjoy cooking and baking then there are infinite ways in which Hesslewood Honey can add a flavoursome touch of local to your dinners and deserts! We have team members here who are fantastic bakers and it is always a welcome treat in the office when they bring in gooey flapjacks.
