Rooted in Nature: Earth Day 2026 at Hesslewood Office Park

Happy Earth Day from all of us here at Hesslewood Office Park. Every year, 22nd April gives us a moment to pause, look around, and appreciate the natural world we’re so fortunate to be part of. And this year, we wanted to take that moment a little further by sharing with you what’s been growing, buzzing, blooming and thriving right here on our doorstep.

Because at Hesslewood, nature isn’t just a backdrop. It’s part of how we do things.

A Workplace Shaped by the Seasons

Our 10-acre parkland is carefully designed and lovingly maintained throughout the year, not just for appearances, but to support nature, wildlife and biodiversity across every season. Whether it’s the first bulbs pushing through in late winter, the abundance of summer pollinators, or the rich russet tones of autumn, Hesslewood is always changing, always evolving.

It’s one of the things that makes this such a special place to work. Step outside on your lunch break and you might spot a peacock wandering the grounds, catch the hum of bees in the flower beds, or simply enjoy a few minutes of quiet surrounded by trees. That connection to the natural world, right in the middle of a working day, really does make a difference.

Hesslewood Honey: A Hive of Activity

One of our favourite stories to tell is the one happening in our beehives. Debbie and Caroline care for our colonies, dedicating real hands-on effort to growing our bee population from three colonies to eight in a single year. In 2025, that commitment translated into 44kg of Hesslewood Honey, produced right here on the park.

But it’s about far more than the honey itself. A thriving pollinator population benefits every plant, tree and flower across our grounds and beyond. It’s a brilliant reminder from nature that the small, considered choices we make can have a ripple effect through the whole ecosystem.

From Seed to Something More

This year, we’ve been quietly excited about something new taking shape on the park: our very own vegetable patches. Starting indoors and gradually making their way out into dedicated growing spaces on site, these patches will soon be producing fresh salad, herbs and vegetables grown right here at Hesslewood.

It’s a small but meaningful step in connecting our landscape with everyday life at the park – and one we’re really looking forward to building on!

Biodiversity isn’t just about the visible or the photogenic. It’s about the whole web of life that keeps an ecosystem healthy and balanced. That’s why, alongside our bird boxes and wildflower planting, we’ve grown our network of bug hotels to 10 across the park – providing safe habitats for insects that play a vital role in pollination, soil health and the overall wellbeing of our grounds.

These might seem like small details, but they all add up. A healthy insect population supports healthy plants, which supports healthy birds, which supports a healthier environment for everyone who spends time here. It’s joined-up thinking and it genuinely works.

Nature and Working Life, Side by Side

At Hesslewood, we’ve always believed that a great place to work should also be a great place for nature. Our Grade II listed and newly built offices sit within 10 acres of landscaped parkland – and that setting isn’t incidental. It’s intentional. It’s designed to give the people who work here something that’s increasingly rare: a genuine sense of space, calm and connection to nature and the outdoors.

From the bees to the bug hotels, from the vegetable patches to the peacocks, every corner of Hesslewood is part of a bigger picture – one where business and biodiversity aren’t in competition but working together.
