Hesslewood Office Park's Classic Car Rally 2023: A Roaring Success In Support Of Local Causes

Hesslewood Office Park witnessed a spectacular scene on the 20th of August, 2023 – the Classic Car Rally Charity Event. The day was marked by clear skies and an enthusiastic crowd, with an estimated 1000 members of the public gathering to celebrate a blend of stunning vehicles, family entertainment, and a spirit of giving.

The 100% not-for-profit event proved to be a remarkable success, surpassing previous records for the funds raised. With over 100 vehicle exhibitors showcasing a mesmerising array of classic cars, motorcycles, super cars and modified vehicles, the event paid homage to the artistry and engineering of a bygone era. Enthusiasts and families alike explored the grounds, marvelling at meticulously restored automobiles, each telling its own story of motoring history.

An event for all

The festivities extended beyond the automotive wonders, with over 30 stalls and attractions on the Hesslewood parkland, offering a diverse range of experiences. Attendees indulged in delectable street food, refreshing beverages, and a treat themselves to a variety of crafts and gifts. Those seeking unique encounters had the chance to walk alpacas, hold majestic birds of prey, see a Humber Rescue boat up close and even step aboard a fire engine, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day.

Winning big!

Another highlight of the event were the raffles; so many amazing prizes, generously donated by a wide range of local businesses and individuals - the anticipation around drawing the winning tickets, causing substantial excitement! The winners of both raffles were drawn on Friday 25th August; the winning ticket numbers posted on social media and the 19 lucky winners having been contacted directly.

A collective effort

The 2023 Classic Car Rally Charity Event, in association with East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club, was generously sponsored by Shields Ltd, DPF Repair Hull, John Good Group, The Garage Grimsby, PPH Commercial and Blink Agency. It's success was not mere happenstance but the result of months of meticulous planning and preparation by the entire Hesslewood team who - alongside the dedicated volunteers - also offered their time and energy on the day, making the event seamless and memorable for all who attended. The collective effort and commitment displayed by these individuals was evident, as everyone celebrated the triumphant outcome.

Supporting local initiatives

The event's success is not measured solely by the impressive turnout and funds raised - there is a deeper significance for Hesslewood Good Causes Fund (HWGCF). HWGCG is proud to have raised vital funds for over 20 local causes, charities and volunteer-led facilities over the years.

This year, through its contribution to four noteworthy causes: North Ferriby Riding For The Disabled, Humber Rescue, Haltemprice Skate Park, and West Hull Bobcats, the Hesslewood Good Causes Fund will play a crucial role in supporting projects aimed at making a positive impact on those local initiatives, which emphasises the true essence of events such as the Classic Car Rally – a union of community, passion, and altruism.

You can look forward to reading all about those supported local causes and projects in upcoming blog posts.
